Planet Positive Planning

Transforming a warm, informal coaching brand into a polished, clear, and professional digital experience

Introduction & Client

Planet Positive Planning is a financial and life-coaching service led by Neil, an actuary turned founder aiming to blend financial clarity with environmental alignment. The existing site needed a visual upgrade while keeping the brand’s identity and approachable tone intact.

The Challenge

Neil’s website lacked polish and structure. My goal was to elevate the aesthetic and usability—enhancing visual hierarchy, readability, and layout clarity—all while working within the brand’s existing colors and a Wix-based setup.

Solution

Research & Analysis

  • Evaluated the current site’s structure and UX pain points
  • Analyzed competitor sites in the financial coaching space
  • Determined key focus areas: hierarchy, spacing, readability

Typography & Color

  • Kept Montserrat for headings and Poppins for body text
  • Darkened font color to black for better contrast
  • Adjusted background tones to lighter green and neon lilac for subtle, branded highlights

Layout & Visual Structure

  • Applied a 12-column grid for consistent layout
  • Used a 3-column grid to organize sections like “My Services” and “My Journey”
  • Added generous white space and rounded corners on images and CTAs to balance professionalism with warmth

Iconography & Visual Communication

  • Introduced Google Material Icons to make content scannable
  • Enhanced CTAs and section clarity with stronger visual cues

My Contribution

  • Led all visual redesign work in Figma and implemented it via the Wix Editor
  • Reimagined layout using grid systems for structure and clarity
  • Refined typography and color to improve contrast and readability
  • Added rounded corners and icons for a friendlier, more approachable UI

What I Learned

Designing within platform constraints (like Wix) taught me how to maximize flexibility without losing branded warmth. Small tweaks—like grid adjustments, color contrast, and icon use—can significantly lift the professionalism of a site without compromising its personality.

Results

  • Aesthetic upgrade: the site now feels polished, structured, and inviting
  • Usability improvements: better spacing and layout promote easier scanning and comprehension
  • Brand consistency: enhancements reinforce the brand while making the UI more modern and accessible
  • Clear next steps defined: ready for usability testing, mobile refinement, and micro-interaction polish
